English language proficiency has now become a requirement for many things, especially in the academic world and for careers. The most common way to prove one’s English skills is by taking an English Proficiency Test. The Language Training Centre facilitates the administration of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) National IBT (Internet Based Test) in West Java, with official recommendations from each respective KCD (Education Office Branch), and Kuningan is the first city granted this excellent program. The initiative is carried out in collaboration (through MoUs) with schools, universities, institutions, and individuals to improve the quality of English proficiency in Indonesia. In line with the Language Training Centre’s vision and mission, “Learning for Brighter Future,” the goal is to learn for a brighter future. Proof of English proficiency is often a primary requirement when applying to universities or seeking work abroad. This test program uses an Internet-Based Test format with a “redline and screen mirroring” scoring system. This means participants must perform well both in terms of timing and their method of answering (no translating). The results of this test are accurate and transparent, based on how the test is completed, ensuring participants achieve their desired score.
3 Uses of the National TOEFL/TOEIC Test
1. Graduation Requirement
Final-year students are surely familiar with the term SKPI (Surat Keterangan Pendamping Ijazah, or Diploma Companion Certificate). In fact, many universities in Indonesia require a TOEFL/TOEIC certificate to complete the SKPI. In other words, a TOEFL/TOEIC certificate is used as a graduation requirement for students.
2. Further Study and Scholarship Selection
Further study and scholarship selection processes also commonly require TOEFL/TOEIC certification. The requirement for TOEFL/TOEIC certificates has become standard in the academic world, although not all universities have the same requirements.
3. Job Applications
It’s not just private companies—government agencies also often require TOEFL/TOEIC certification for their applicants. As evidence, every time there’s an opening for civils servant (CPNS) and BUMN (state-owned enterprise) positions, one of the required documents is a TOEFL/TOEIC certificate.
With the implementation of this test, the Language Training Centre provides clear benefits to foster greater enthusiasm for English. Besides, participants are expected to obtain certificates and make proper use of their English proficiency as evidence of their ability.
